The Sync Project is hiring

Do you want to be part of the engineering team that is unlocking the health effects of music? We're hiring. Open positions include: Android Developer, Front-end Developer. See below for more details. To apply, please send your resume to jobs@syncproject.co

About the Sync Project:

The Sync Project is a global collaboration harnessing the power of music for health. We believe music can be a universally accessible, non-invasive way to monitor, diagnose, and treat a wide range of conditions. Our ultimate aim is to develop personalized music products to improve health.

The Sync Project is building a community and software platform that combines the mapping of music characteristics with human physiology to enable real-time measurement of the personalised impact of music on health. The platform maps music characteristics to real-time, objective measurements of physiology from a variety of sensors and devices, to uncover the personalized health effects of music. This massive engineering challenge includes managing big data sensor streams and applying machine learning to discover personalized music signatures.

Recent pioneering research has shown that music can modulate neural systems like the dopamine response, autonomic nervous system, and others related to stress, movement, learning and memory. This research shows that music affects the same neural pathways that are regulated by pharmaceuticals such as psychostimulants and other drugs. Building on these latest scientific advances, the Sync Project aims to develop music as personalized medicine for a variety of conditions including sleep disorders, pain, Parkinson’s, fatigue, stroke recovery, anxiety and athletic performance.

Based in Boston, The Sync Project was founded by Marko Ahtisaari, Ketki Karanam, Yadid Ayzenberg and is funded by PureTech Health a science-driven healthcare company, seeking to solve some of today’s toughest health challenges through disruptive approaches.

The Sync Project’s science advisors and board members include Dr. Robert Zatorre (Prof. at McGill University, leading neuroscientist who discovered the neural effects of music), Dr. Adam Gazzaley (cognitive neuroscientist and inventor, Director UCSF Neuroimaging centre), Joi Ito (Director of MIT Media Lab), Dame Marjorie Scardino (Chairman of the MacArthur Foundation, board member at Twitter, former CEO of Pearson), Daphne Zohar (Founder and CEO, PureTech Health) and Tristan Jehan (founder of The Echo Nest, and principal scientist at Spotify).
